Program Description:
At the Dankook University International Summer School, Oregon State students spend the first three weeks leading daily conversational English classes for Dankook University students through the Global Village program. This unique internship is a great opportunity to connect with Dankook students and gain insight into Korean culture, in addition to building practical classroom teaching and ESOL experience. These three weeks of English teaching are followed with a four week academic program, during which students can earn up to nine OSU credits. Students can take up to two courses in subjects like, Korean language, Asian studies, Education, Humanities, Design & Fashion, and Social Science. Coursework is complemented by activities and excursions designed to introduce participants to Korean life and culture. Past activities have included a temple stay in the Korean countryside, a K-Pop dance, Taekwondo lessons, Kimchi-making, and a DMZ tour.

Participants receive flight reimbursement up to $1000 USD for teaching twice daily conversation groups during the duration of the 3-week "Global Village," and receive free on-campus accommodation during that time. The cost of program attendance paid to Dankook University is $1800 USD and includes the tuition for two courses, and accommodation on-campus during the academic program portion of the International Summer School. Students should expect to spend additional money on meals, personal expenses, and excursion costs.
